Nation's Triathlon 2009 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Well, the time is here again to start the fundraising for this years Nations Triathlon! As I will be trying to better my goal of last year ($5655), I am going to train harder and longer for this event as I will be trying to complete this event in the top 20%. Here we go!

TEXAS INDEPENDENCE RELAY!!!!

Well, we all survived the latest run this weekend... As I am here at work typing this blog with only 9 working fingers. After slamming your finger in a car door and braking the bone, you find that you can run 4 miles faster!

The team: OFF DAILY!!!, was beaten by some 118 other teams... We finished with the time of 32 hours, 22 minutes, and 53 seconds, and had the team pace of 9:34.8 min/miles.

The race started Saturday, March 7th, at 6:44 a.m., after trying to sleep some 4 hours on the junior high gymnasium floor in Gonzales, TX. Then some 33 hours later and 203+ miles of running down the roads of TX, we found ourselves in front of the San Jacinto Monument, eating some Papa John's and drinking a ice cold Heineken.

This is not the last time that you will hear of "OFF DAILY!!!", as we will be competing again...

LoneStar Triathlon Festival

CANCELLED DO TO TRAVEL FOR WORK!!!!!
April 3-5, 2009
LONE STAR WILL BE READY TO ROCK IN 2009! AFTER THE DAMAGE FROM HURRICANE IKE, LET'S HELP REBUILD GALVESTON! THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO HELP OUT, BY COMING BACK AND SUPPORTING THE ISLAND!
As everyone knows that I completed the Nation's Triathlon on September 13, 2008, for Team-in-Training which is to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. With everyones donations, I was able to raise $5,355, and our TexasGulf Coast team of 26 was able to raise over $128,000. The TNT group had some 700+ individuals from its 55 chapters raise over $3 million for this one event.
Now back to the IronMan in April, I will be doing this event once again with TNT and have pledged to raise $5,000 for this event. Please view my fundraising page to track all my progress at http://pages.teamintraining.org/txg/lstri09/bmwhite45

Inaugural Event-Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon

The break is over and train has begun. As I start to train for the 1/2 marathon in San Antonio, which will be held on November 16, 2008, start time will be 7:30 a.m.

Basic course information will be Avg. temp in the mid 60's and mild breeze. Course Profile is somewhat flat, fast, and scenic, with some 70 live bands and 40 cheer teams. Besides having pretty perfect running conditions normally, this is one of the qualifiers for the Boston Marathon.

Please access the link below if you would like more information in regards to the marathon.

Well, I figured I might as well post the results of this race!

Bid #12697-Total time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 58 seconds, I was done with the 13.1 miles. While, I did still place 8798 out of 17,115 finishers, my race pace was 11:13 minute/mile was somewhat false since I was setting my mom's pace the first 6.1 miles with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, then I took off running and covered the other 7 miles with a pace of 9:15 minute/miles.

All on all, the race was so much to enjoy, but no where near the number of bands that was promised! But it was a challenging course!

The race will begin with body marking at 5 am on September 14, 2008.

The first wave will enter the water at 7 am for a 1.5k open water swim in the Potomac River, just downstream from the Memorial Bridge.

The 40k bike will be along Independence Ave., and all down Canal Rd.

The 10k run will be around East Potomac Park, with the finish line being The National Capitol Building.

The total amount that I have committed to donate to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be $5,000. Thank you to everyone that assisted with the fundraising to compete in this event.

Please view all information on the race at: http://www.thenationstriathlon.com/

Competitors in the 2008 Nation's Triathlon will race on a wide mostly flat fast course completely closed to traffic by the officers of the DC Metro. Police and the United States Park Police. The course combines long stretches perfect for the aerobars with turns and twists on the Avenues and Boulevards of downtown Washington DC. On our route we will race right by the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, National Mall, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Navy Memorial, Kennedy Center, Korean War Memorial, FBI Building, National Archives, National Treasury, Holocaust Memorial and more! It is a thrilling experience!

Well the race is over and now its time to start training again... The Nation's Triathlon was a great experience as I completed the 1.5K swim in 38:46 minutes, the 40K bike in 1:41.01 minutes (Please note that the last 12 miles was completed on a back flat tire... ), then 1:00.1 on the 10K run. Thank you to all the donated as I was able to raise over $5300, to give the LLS.

Summertime Blues Sprint Triathlon

3 mile run around the Old Brazos River, over Velasco Bridge, over the levee, and back to RiverPlace

Well, it was not the top finish that I wanted, but I did make 11th place for my age group. The 500M swim took 12:25.5, then 15-mile bike was 50:00.2, finally the 3.1-mile run was 27:13.7. Finishing some 17:13.2 behind first. Now lets move on to the Nations!
